Saturday Success: Re-purposing existing art designs

What do you do when you have hundreds of posted art designs and you are fresh out of new ideas? Recently, I found myself sitting at my desk, hands in my lap, staring at my computer which had my software editing screen up and ready to go.

Rather than panic, I’ve learned to sit and relax, breathing in and out and being still for a few minutes. Occasionally, a total break from designing proves helpful in getting a few ideas flowing. In this instance, the thought popped in my mind to use my existing designs in another way. Rather than create totally brand new graphic art pieces, the idea of re-purposing a few existing art designs seemed very exciting.

Ok, so I have the idea of using designs I already have but now the big question was use them how?? and literally seconds later, it came to me! Package the fashion designs with matching greeting cards, invitations, wrapping paper and gift bags for starters.

Several hours later I had a new online specialty store, Klothing Khoncepts,  featuring the first approved item – a greeting card invitation for a women’s weekend getaway with her friends. Customers can personalize the text to fit their special occasion. The graphics on the card are actual fashion designs found in my other online stores.

It’s such a pleasure to be able to take “old” artwork and successfully re-purpose graphics into something beautifully “new”.

Red and Green Geometric Printed Holiday Kimono

Red and Green Printed Kimono
Red and Green Abstract Holiday Printed Fashion wear.

My Mom was the most holiday oriented mother I knew. She absolutely loved Christmas. I’m a mother of 4 and a Grandmother to 5 (so far) and my ideas of holiday celebrations are, and have always been, very low key. Very. lol So it’s no surprise to anyone that knows me to see red and green abstract designs for the Christmas season. Last year, this design was one of my favorite holiday greeting cards. It’s so exciting to see how well it’s translated into eye catching fashion wear. My Mom would have enjoyed wearing this kimono with a green top, slacks and cute red flats.

Wearable Wednesday: Looking Fabulous this Fall

Wearable Wednesday fashion pick. You’ll be a show stopper this autumn wearing your versatile Autumn Mosaics raincoat. “Made from 100% Nylon the generously cut, lightweight jacket with side seam pockets is designed to accommodate layers and to cover you from head to mid-thigh. It zips up the front and can be fastened at the waist and bottom hem with Nylon drawstrings for extra security. The wide hood snaps closed on chilly days and lays open just as easily when the sun comes out.” Your new jacket should fit easily in most backpacks just to have on hand for those minute by minute New England weather changes.

Look absolutely fabulous this fall by pairing with complementary boots and bag. Green, brown, black, camel, beige – take your pick or buy them all!

Gluten free – Saturday Fish fry

Fried foods aren’t totally deleted from my meal plans. From time to time I really have to have a change from grilled foods. Today was the day to experiment with using gluten free coconut flour.

Five ingredients total and less than 10 minutes later I had a surprisingly tasty lunch.

Items:
Coconut flour
Haddock
seasoning of choice
a bit of oil
Vegetable – I chose spinach

Heat a pan with a bit of cooking oil, clean the fish, pour the flour into a container, place the fish right side up, season, flip and coat opposite side, season.

I like to take a few drops of water to check the readiness of the oil before placing the fish skin side down first. The presentation isn’t the best but the end result more than made up for it.

The smell was simply AMAZING! I admit that there was just a little concern using coconut flour but I was sold on the first bite. My gluten free, egg free, almost oil free recipe may need a tweak or two but I’m not exactly sure what that would be. lol.

Suggestions are welcome!
